Cultivation Supervisor
Job Summary:
Hands-on cultivation expert responsible for executing daily cultivation operations while providing technical leadership and mentorship. Combines advanced horticultural skills with supervisory responsibility to ensure optimal plant health, consistent quality, and knowledge transfer. Reports directly to the Cultivation Manager and serves as subject matter expert in specific cultivation techniques. Cultivation IPM Technicians report to the Cultivation Supervisor.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervisory & Mentorship Responsibilities:
Directly supervise and mentor Cultivation IPM Technicians, providing hands-on training in cultivation techniques and SOPs
Prioritize daily tasks, ensuring work quality and efficiency by collaborating with the Cultivation Manager in weekly scheduling meetings
Demonstrate proper cultivation techniques, equipment use, and safety protocols
Monitor assigned direct report(s) performance, providing real-time feedback and documenting progress
Conduct regular 1x1’s and bi-yearly reviews as required by the Cultivation Manager
Answer questions and troubleshoot cultivation issues for assigned direct report(s)
Escalate performance issues, training gaps, or personnel concerns to Cultivation Manager
Cultivation Operations:
Execute daily and weekly cultivation tasks including feeding, nutrient brewing and maintenance, cloning, topping, super cropping, pruning, transplanting, training, and plant monitoring via systems
Maintain optimal plant health through expert application of cultivation techniques
Monitor and document plant development, identifying and addressing pests, disease, nutrient deficiencies, or environmental stress via weekly inspection and scouting reports as well as visual documentation via a photo/note taking app
Implement IPM protocols including training, scouting, prevention, and treatment applications
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of grow rooms, equipment, and cultivation work areas
Co-monitor environmental and irrigation systems with the Cultivation Manager
Implement cultivation strategy, initiatives, and experiments
Enters facility specific cultivation data inputs such as plant counts, harvest weights and yields
Collaborates and assists the Cultivation Manager on mother planning and breeding initiatives
Ensure accurate data entry in cultivation logs and METRC system
Processes and prepares coco coir for transplants
Technical Leadership & Continuous Improvement:
Serve as subject matter expert for specific cultivation phases or techniques
Contribute to SOP development and refinement based on hands-on experience
Identify opportunities for cultivation process improvements and efficiency gains
Participate in cultivation team meetings, sharing insights and collaborating on problem-solving
Stay current on cultivation best practices, IPM regulations, and new techniques
Required Skills/Abilities:
Background check – no disqualifying offenses
Reliable transportation
Ability to work independently and in teams
Excellent time management and communication skills
Availability to work weekends (Sunday through Thursday)
Preferred Skills/Abilities:
Previous experience with cannabis or plant cultivation
Previous supervisory role or management experience
Previous IPM application and applicators license
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during cultivation activities
Comfortable working in warm, humid environments with bright lighting
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly
Capable of bending, kneeling, and reaching during plant care activities
Ability to work on ladders with equipment
Compensation & Benefits:
Pay Range: $60k-70k salary
Actual compensation depends on experience level and demonstrated track record.
